Creating and Customizing Reports

This guide will help you navigate and make the most out of the features available in your SessionScope analytics dashboard.

Step 1: Accessing the Report Builder

Log In to SessionScope:

Sign in to your SessionScope account and navigate to your dashboard.

In the left sidebar, click on “Custom Reports” under the “Visitors” or “Actions” section, or use the “Report Builder” link if available.

Step 2: Creating a New Report

Start a New Report:

Click the “Create New Report” button to begin the process.

Select Report Type:

Choose the type of report you want to create (e.g., Visitors, Actions, Goals, Ecommerce).

Define Report Metrics:

Select the metrics you want to include in your report. Common metrics include:

  • Number of Visits
  • Unique Visitors
  • Page Views
  • Bounce Rate
  • Conversion Rate

Set Report Dimensions:

Choose the dimensions to segment your data by (e.g., Date, Country, Device Type, Referrer). You can add multiple dimensions to drill down into specific data points.

Apply Filters:

Apply filters to include or exclude certain data from your report. For example, you can filter by date range, specific pages, or visitor segments.

Name Your Report:

Give your report a descriptive name to easily identify it later.

Step 3: Customizing the Report

Add Widgets:

Enhance your report by adding various widgets. Widgets can display data in different formats such as tables, graphs, pie charts, and heatmaps. To add a widget, click on “Add Widget” and select the type of visualization you prefer.

Arrange Widgets:

Drag and drop widgets to rearrange them within your report. Organize the layout to highlight the most important data first.

Customize Widgets:

Click on each widget to customize its settings. Adjust the data range, visualization type, and appearance to suit your needs.

Save Your Customizations:

After customizing the widgets and layout, click “Save” to save your customized report.

Step 4: Scheduling and Exporting Reports

Schedule Reports:

Set up automated scheduling for your reports to receive them regularly via email. Go to the “Schedule” tab in the report builder, select the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly), and enter the email addresses to send the reports to.

Export Reports:

Export your reports in various formats such as PDF, CSV, or Excel for offline analysis or sharing with your team. Click the “Export” button in the report view and choose the desired format.

Step 5: Managing Reports

View Saved Reports:

Access all your saved reports from the “Custom Reports” section in the sidebar. Click on any report to view, edit, or delete it.

Edit Reports:

To edit an existing report, open the report and click the “Edit” button. Make the necessary changes and save your updates.

Delete Reports:

If you no longer need a report, you can delete it by selecting the report and clicking the “Delete” button.

Tips for Effective Reporting

  • Keep It Simple: Focus on key metrics that drive your business decisions. Avoid cluttering reports with too much data.
  • Use Visualizations: Graphs and charts can make it easier to understand trends and patterns in your data.
  • Regular Review: Regularly review and update your reports to ensure they align with your current business goals and objectives.
  • Share Insights: Share reports with your team to keep everyone informed and aligned on performance metrics and business goals.
